CCI Mitigation
Setting a new threshold of performance with its introduction in early 2002, TrellisWare remains a leader in CCI mitigation products that address the stricter co-channel interference rejection requirements of today’s ever-demanding communications systems. TrellisWare offers SAIC products in two categories: Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC) for commercial GSM systems and CCI Mitigation algorithms for other applications.
SAIC for Commercial GSM Systems
For GSM operators, increasing the number of users per cell site requires mitigating co-channel interference. To boost capacity, operators will reuse the same frequencies in neighboring cells and even use the same frequencies in the sectors within the same cell. This tight frequency reuse creates significant co-channel interference problems, making it the limiting factor in increasing network capacity.
SAIC allows GSM handsets to work in much higher interference environments, thus allowing more users in the network. TrellisWare’s SAIC is a digital baseband receive-side processing solution that significantly reduces network interference and does not require operators to make any changes to their tower-based infrastructure.

CCI for Other Applications
Leveraging processing expertise in blind acquisition, joint-detection and AID technologies, TrellisWare has extended the use of our SAIC technology well beyond the commercial cellular markets and single antenna applications. The same key features that make SAIC products so appealing to the commercial cellular customers have also been instrumental in attracting the attention of other applications.
- Blind Acquisition allows TrellisWare’s CCI Mitigation algorithms to operate without any knowledge on the interfering signals.
- Joint Detection provides the ability to detect and demodulate interfering signals that can be cancelled after detection (interference-cancellation applications) or used for situational awareness applications, enhancing location/direction finding.
- Adaptive Iterative Detection provides the robustness needed to operate in high dynamic environments with lots of multipath, lots of interference and weak signal strength conditions.
- Multiple Antenna Extensions provide even greater CCI mitigation by using spatial discrimination even in the midst of severe multipath and/or more angles of arrival of signals, reflections and interference than available antennas.
