FEC Products

TrellisWare has developed and perfected several families of advanced Forward Error Correction (FEC) products to meet the unique forward error correction needs of a wide range of customer applications – from noisy channels and several gigabit per second data transfer to networks that need to support wide ranges of code rates and block sizes. Whether the need is for software-defined architectures as FGPA encoder/decoder cores, or ASIC products, TrellisWare’s FEC products achieve the greatest performance improvement at very low complexity across the widest range of code rates, block sizes and modulation types. TrellisWare offers FEC products in three general categories:

1. Flexible Low Density Parity Check (F-LDPC) Products
2. Chameleon F-LDPC ASIC
3. FlexiCode Products
4. Standard and Custom Products

TrellisWare not only defined the Flexible-Low Density Parity Check (F-LDPC) and FlexiCode code structures, but the highly flexible and low complexity encoding/decoding architectures that implement these codes as well. Our products based on these codes achieve very high data rate throughputs without compromising performance – and this is done at a much lower complexity compared to other advanced ‘turbo-like’ codes. In addition, TrellisWare’s flexible designs allows a single design to easily support many block sizes, many code rates, and virtually any digital modulation type, making them ideal for applications that demand flexibility to optimize performance across a wide range of operating conditions. In the standard and custom products areas, TrellisWare has developed highly efficient FEC solution products based on Serially Concatenated Convolution Codes (SCCC) and Parallel Concatenated Convolutional Codes (PCCC) for industry standards such as HomePlug AV, and will very soon be adding DVB-S2, 802.11n and 802.16e LDPC decoders to our line of standard products.
