F-LDPC
TrellisWare has developed a family of products based on our F-LDPC codes to meet the very high data throughput demands of modern communication and storage systems, providing a highly flexible FEC solution that does not compromise performance. These products offer near capacity threshold performance and low error floors at low complexity, making them the ideal FEC choice for many applications, including robust military communications, commercial terrestrial communications, satellite communications, magnetic and holographic storage systems, several gigabit per second point-to-point wireless communications, etc.
The F-LDPC is available as encoder and decoder cores for FPGA/ASIC implementations. The inherent flexibility of the F-LDPC means that the cores are highly configurable on the fly. Standard cores support 8 block sizes, 40 code rates, and 4 modulation types that can be varied on a block by block basis. Additional block sizes can easily be supported by these cores as well. It usually takes a few days to add a new block size to the offering. Through Log Likelihood Ratio inputs, the F-LDPC cores also support virtually any digital modulation type.
TrellisWare’s F-LDPC products were showcased during MILCOM 2006, where we demonstrated the high- speed error-decoding capability of the F-LDPC by encoding a 1Gbps raw digital video-stream, corrupting the stream with noise, and decoding the stream before displaying it on a monitor.
