TW-Series SDR Platforms

TrellisWare is developing a series of software-reconfigurable networking products that combine the data- handling capability of WiFi with the range and ease of use of Family Radio Service (FRS) handhelds. Based on the same architecture as the TW-110 evaluation platform, TrellisWare’s TW-Series networking products offer a unique form of mobile mesh networking, allowing voice and data transmissions to automatically multi-hop from mobile unit to mobile unit - at very low latency and without requiring fixed infrastructure.

With the TW-Series products, a high-speed network can be deployed anytime, anywhere. No central controller is required. No fixed infrastructure. No special configuration. Most importantly, the TW-Series products work in even the harshest RF environments – across downtown urban areas, throughout tunnels and caves, from within metal shipping containers, and throughout cargo ships.

The most unique aspect of the TW-Series communications architecture is its hardware simplicity.

• RF based on low-cost cellular and WiFi components – TrellisWare utilizes a variant of constant envelope GMSK modulation to take advantage of lower cost, higher performance power amps
• The industry’s most robust waveform, featuring TrellisWare’s FEC and receive processing techniques, providing consumer-quality BER performance even at multi-mile ranges
• A modular input/output (I/O) architecture hosting TrellisWare’s patented DNA MAC, enabling true mobile ad hoc networking, even at extended ranges

This combination creates a highly capable, extremely flexible design that can be easily adapted to meet any customer requirements. Need a different center frequency? The TW-Series products have a modular RF front end. Need more voice channels or higher data rates? TW-Series products are software defined and can be adapted.  Want to pass IPv6 data? TW-Series products can accept inputs via USB 2.0, Ethernet, advanced audio headsets or SPI data stream. Worried about latency over a multi-hop network? TW-Series products can relay up to 3-hops in less than 250ms end-to-end latency, and up to 9-hops in less than 400ms latency.

TrellisWare is currently developing multiple size variants of the TW-Series family of products including high power gateway, handheld and embedded designs.
