TrellisWare’s mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) product line leverages our unique core technology. Instead of depending on routing tables for multi-hop transport, user services are built on top of a rapid, robust broadcast primitive that employs cooperative communications at the physical layer. This approach affords three major improvements over competing solutions:
Connectivity in the Harshest Environments
A robust physical layer, coupled with networking protocols that automatically adapt to continuous changes in the network topology, allows voice, IP, video, and location services to be offered even in highly dynamic scenarios. TrellisWare’s MANET products have been utilized successfully in a wide range of applications and environments.
Rapid Self-Forming and Self-Healing
Since network membership changes do not require overhead-intensive neighbor and routing table updates, network entry occurs in < 1 second. This enables extremely simple initial network configuration and provides network merging and splitting that is seamless to the user.
Scalability to 10s, 100s, or even 1000s of Units
By removing the dependence on routing tables, TrellisWare’s networking architecture can scale to 100s of units and beyond. Anywhere-to-anywhere data exchanges are accomplished without any centralized control nor any fixed infrastructure. Most manufacturers rely on simulations or controlled demonstrations for scalability claims, but TrellisWare MANET products have been independently evaluated in realistic applications with over 200 users.
