SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 11, 2012 TrellisWare Technologies, a world leader in communication signal process innovations, has been selected by the San Diego CONNECT as a finalist in the 2012 Most Innovative Product (MIP) Awards for its newest Cheetah CUB wideband networked communications product. In its 25th year, CONNECT’s annual MIP awards celebrate excellence in the region’s technology industry honoring those companies that most effectively apply technical innovation into exceptional products or service.
TrellisWare was recognized in the Communications and IT category, based on its significant innovations in incorporating patented and patent pending processing techniques into a very small, versatile, fully scalable, wideband Mobile Ad-hoc Networking (MANET) handheld product. TrellisWare’s Cheetah CUB enables push-to-talk voice, IP data, streaming video and location tracking of hundreds or even thousands of units in a completely infrastructure-less self-forming, self-healing network. Smaller and more capable than any wideband networked radio of its kind, the CUB unit fits in your pocket and yet with only a handful of units can provide coverage over any large ship, mid-sized downtown urban center or cave/tunnel.
“We are very excited to receive this recognition from CONNECT,” said Jeff Harris, Vice President of Wireless Systems Products at TrellisWare. “Our team has worked hard to create a product worthy of transforming an industry. Being selected by a regional group of your peers based primarily on the innovation content of your product is a great testament that we are on the right track.”
The CONNECT MIP Finalist Awards were presented on October 12 and showcased San Diego’s most innovative technology companies. Of the twenty-seven finalists, the CONNECT judging team will down-select to nine awardees across categories of Action and Sports Technologies; Aerospace and Security; Clean Tech; Communications and IT; Hardware and General Tech; Life Sciences- Diagnostic/Research; Life Sciences- Medical Products; Software; and Mobile Apps.
